We want to publish a new print guide of shows led by women and people of marginalised genders at Edinburgh Festival Fringe - the 2023 FemiFringe Guide. The goal is for this to be made available for FREE at distribution points such as venues, local shops and community spaces during the festival. As a small and unfunded company, we are looking for support to make this happen!

    The story

We are F-Bomb Theatre, a multi-award-winning feminist theatre company based in Scotland (previous EdFringe shows include AFTERPARTY in 2021, and THE BEATLES WERE A BOYBAND, which won a Scotsman Fringe First and the Sit Up Award in 2022). In 2022, we started the #femifringe campaign on social media, celebrating feminist work at EdFringe. This hashtag became a movement of its own, with many organising meet-ups, events and podcasts to connect the community.

People were looking for a place to find all the FemiFringe shows in one place, which is why we also created a digital programme in 2022. This year we want to continue with a digital and print guide which will be FREE to everyone.

    The guide

The 2023 FemiFringe Guide will be available for FREE at distribution points including Edinburgh Fringe venues, local shops and community spaces. We predict our new printed guides will be popular with an already engaged audience of Fringe goers, and artists who will be excited to be featured. The guide itself will be approximately 100 pages and A5 sized, meaning that it is handy for patrons to pick up and fit in their bags (especially when bombarded with many flyers at the Fringe).

The content will include listings of FemiFringe shows, as well as any related events such as meet-ups that are organised by the community. It will also have a small section dedicated to features/interviews with some of the artists who make the festival so special. (We do take some editorial discretion to not include any shows or artists who are intolerant towards individuals or groups in our community.)

The guide shown below is simply a mockup created in Canva - we of course want to hire a local artist to create the cover art!

    The goal

F-Bomb Theatre are a small, unfunded company - we make most of our work through the unpaid efforts of our core team. So we need your help to raise £5000 to make this project happen. This will support the printing and distribution costs, as well as paying professionals (producers, editors, artists) for their time and skills putting the guide together.

    The rewards

All eligible FemiFringe shows will of course be included for free in the listings - we want this resource to be as accessible as possible. But to thank you for your support, we are offering rewards to artists in the form of heavily discounted advertising space in our guide. (If you are a business or organisation and would like to book an ad, please get in touch via hello@fbombtheatre.co.uk).
