2K5
It’s 2005, Ellie and her 'BFF 4lyf', Zoe, listen to rap music and slam rhymes every day, dreaming of the big stage. But, at twelve, for Ellie, it’s easy to be a dreamer and less easy to ignore the harsh realities as the only Black kid at school.

2K5

2k5 is a nostalgic journey back to the year 2005 (was it really 17 years ago?) where we jump straight into the lives of 12-year-old Ellie and her best mate Zoe. Both friends have been besties their entire childhood but both girls go to different schools to each other. Finding common ground, the girls love rapping with each other - especially when it comes to the big hitters Ms Dynamite and Salt n Pepa.
It is a coming of age teen dream movie with nods to some classics, including Mean Girls (honestly, the trope is in there) but with a British twist. Visually, think The Florida Project meets Rocks.
Really, it's a story that centres on bullying in school which is inspired by both writers' time at high school and the way they were treated.
