Imagine accidentally killing Harry Potter, Luke Skywalker, or Jesus and having to take their place.
Sue, an IT Support Technician in her 60s, wakes from a coma to discover half the world has been zombified. After accidentally killing the prophesied 'Chosen One', Sue assumes their identity to avoid getting caught, and has to save humanity herself. However, all Sue wants is to get back to her office and back to I.T. After discovering her beloved office has been ravaged by feral zombies, Sue must keep her lie up long enough to find a cure for the zombies and save what she calls home.
Chosen is a pop-rock comedy musical about purpose, second chances and embracing the uncertainty of life.
The FUNDING
What are we raising funds for?
We are raising funds to be able to workshop and eventually stage Chosen in 2025.
How will we spend the money?
This money would be vital in hiring rehearsal spaces or performance venues, paying musicians, performers and dramaturgs, acquiring props or costumes, hiring a musical director, commissioning the writers, and so much more! It could also be a huge help when applying for more funding from Arts Council.
Why do we need to workshop Chosen?
Musicals take a very long time to come to fruition. As Sondheim famously said, "musical comedies are not written, they are rewritten". We have been working on Chosen for 7 years now, and there is still much work to do. We need to workshop the show so we can discover what is really working and what's not! This would help us bring the best out of the show, and take the next steps to getting it on stage in front of audiences!
Our JOURNEY
SMALL BEGINNINGS
We started writing Chosen at 2am in September 2017 as a joke. We had no musical theatre training, no industry contacts, we couldn’t read or write sheet music, and we were self-taught on the instruments we played. But we decided we were going to write an original musical.
BEAM 2023
After 6 years of working on the show, we decided to put it out into the world. We were terrified. No one had set eyes on any of our material for 6 years apart from us. We pitched Chosen to be part of BEAM2023 and the show was selected! We delivered a 10 minute pitch for the show to industry professionals at the Oxford Playhouse in May 2023. MUSICAL BITES
After BEAM, Chosen was selected to part of The Other Palace's "Musical Bites" programme in which we showcased 45 minutes of the show in October 2023! You can see highlights of that below!
WEEK AT BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME
After Musical Bites, we were invited to spend a week with Deidre O'Halloran at the Birmingham Hippodrome, workshopping and developing the show.
REWRITES
We are currently touring a 75 minute concert version of Chosen to regional theatres around the UK: Southampton's Mast Mayflower Studios, Norwich Theatre Royal, Manchester's The Lowry Theatre and the Birmingham Hippodrome! You can see some photos from rehearsals and the tour below!

We're on tour!
Chosen was selected as this year's REWRITES show! We are presenting a concert version of the show at regional theatres across the UK.
We halfway through our tour! So far we have been welcomed by the amazing MAST Mayflower Studios in Southampton and Norwich Theatre Royal!
