Dahlia's are Never Blue

After dumping a body in the residential bin, 24 year old Noah encounters a 23 year old Evie on an elevator which spirals truths and confrontations.
Through misogyny and ignorance, Noah baits Evie into making a definitive decision.

"It says that no matter how hard breeders try, the flower can never be blue. Like, fully any other colour except blue. Dahlia was that exactly, it was rare for anything to really get her down..."
Born out of frustration of the worsening misogyny in young men at the hands of alpha-male influencers and podcasters, Dahlia’s are Never Blue explores the moral conflict of seeking justice and revenge when the justice system betrays you.
Inspired by Promising Young Woman, Dahlia’s are Never Blue focuses on humanising victims instead of letting them be another statistic.

Shona Buddie (she/her) is a queer storyteller who loves delving into the psyche of those involved in current topics of modern day. Her work explores melancholy and womanhood while fronting lgbtq+ and femxle characters.

Most of the film will be set in an elevator, where our DoP, Jake Ingles, will utilise close-up shots with a closely zoomed-in lens to effectively capture the character's emotions. He has chosen this approach over the conventional method of having two actors standing side by side to achieve a more distinctive visual style and depart from the typical portrayal of elevator scenes.

Jake intends to illuminate the elevator's interior with a high contrast ratio to convey a sense of seriousness and create a more aesthetically pleasing colour palette than traditional elevator scenes.
