‘Expectations’ is a comedy, drama short script that discusses single life and being a late bloomer. And societies pressure to be in a relationship and how single life is framed as missing out, but especially when invited to events such as weddings.
The protagonists, Mollie and Oliver are the only remaining singles in a wedding full of couples. They stumble upon each other both trying to escape.

Could they avoid being set up on a dreaded blind date?

This script is a passion project, from actress and writer, Sophie Way; “I wanted to talk about something I have experienced personally but which I’m realising is becoming more and more relatable. From talking to friends and seeing online how people have experienced or are experiencing society's expectations when it comes to single life and relationships. This script is a way to discuss the pros of being single framed with a touch of honesty and comedy. There are three character’s, Mollie and Oliver – the remaining singles - and Poppy the antagonist, the Bride. My hope for the short is to give a different perspective of single life and being a late bloomer, and open up a discussion on how it’s not as society always labels it to be.”

    Sophie Way- Writer/ Actor/ Co Director :

Sophie is an actor, writer. The arts have always been a massive inspiration to her, and she spends most of her time doing something creative whether that be acting, singing, writing, embroidering and occasionally dancing. She’s always up for a creative challenge.

She is determined to make her first professional short. She wants her projects to be for everyone, she would love to give people the opportunity to learn and to create especially those who don’t always have the chance to. Most of her scripts tackle some kind of stereotype.

While this is her first professional short her previous acting/writing work can be seen on her website at:

Keeping to his roots and upbringing with a strong emphasis on the natural world, AJ tries to ground his work in his love of nature, and naturalistic looks.

    Georgina Bobb- Production Consultant:

A South London Creative on a Mission.  Georgina is a mixed-race woman from South London who turned 15+ years of working behind the scenes in TV into a mission to support the next generation of media professionals.

As a BAFTA member, production manager, and career consultant, she’s worked on everything from documentaries and factual series to branded content and international shoots — for broadcasters like the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Channel 5, Discovery, and more.

She’s crewed up productions, built schedules, managed budgets, handled logistics, and written countless call sheets and risk assessments. And while she loved the craft, she also saw the gaps — the ones that leave talented creatives burned out, underpaid, and invisible. That’s why she created Booked & Busy Studio.

    Jonathan Young- Lighting and BTS:

Masters graduate from Bournemouth University - working in film and television has always interested him as there is a broad spectrum of productions made year after year. His experience across his education ranged from lighting on studio productions to directing his own short films and alongside brief feature film experience as a production assistant with the overall current goal being to expand his skillset across the industry.

    Amani Knight- Costume:

Amani has worked as a background actor since 2021, and has had featured roles in popular shows such as Bridgerton and Andor season 2.

Having studied fashion and clothing at A-level, she has put her my love of fashion to good use in the costume department as she often has to provide her own clothing for roles.

    Edward Crook- Actor:

Edward Crook is a British actor, originally from Nottingham. He trained at the prestigious LAMDA drama school on a full scholarship from The Carne Trust. His recent credits include Breathtaking (ITV), Emmerdale (ITV), and The English (BBC/ Amazon). In Breathtaking, he worked with writer, Jed Mercurio, known for his work on Line of Duty, and starred alongside Joanne Froggatt. The English featured a standout cast including Emily Blunt. Edward's recent projects include the short film Black Dog, where he stars with Adrian Bower, recognized for his extensive work in television and film. Additionally, Edward appeared in the film Finger Prick with Dylan Llewellyn, a well-known actor from the popular series Derry Girls.

    Felicity Moore- Actor:

Felicity Moore is an accomplished actor hailing from Bristol, known for her comedic timing, emotional truth, and intuitive movement. Fresh from performing with her circus company, where she was described as “exuding confidence on stage”.

Taking on lead roles with great success such as, Titus Andronicus to a comedic chicken (her personal favourite).

    Aran Tanseli- Composer:

Aran Tanseli is a professional music composer based in the UK, specialising in Film, TV and Games, currently scoring a video game series, short films and a trailer advert, as well as writing demos for sample library companies. He enjoys the challenge of any genre, but specialises in modern, hybrid orchestral music. He is an experienced composer and producer, also capable of mixing and mastering his own music, creating personal, high quality sample libraries and performing a variety of instruments, such as piano, percussion and vocals, all of which are often live in his scores, blended with sampled instruments, "performed" for added character and realism.
