Far Out
Far Out is a wacky, queer, sci-fi play being produced by L Squared Theatre.
The year is 2150, and the Earth is nearly burnt out. The one remaining business, Core Corporation, has sent out thousands of spaceships to find a new home for the human race. Our three pilots, Alma, Jed and Ellis, dodge comets and black holes, collect data and chat to aliens; it’s all a bit mad, this spaceship thing. As their friendship grows, so does the question: what do they do if they actually FIND a planet? And is the human race worth saving at all?

Who are L Squared Theatre?
L Squared Theatre is made up of Lauren Lambert Moore (Director) and Libby Williamson (Writer).
We are early-career creatives with a commitment to making work to a high standard, which stretches the boundaries of 'what theatre is' to make truly inclusive and representative work which our audiences will recognise themselves in.
We are working with producer Tamryn Liddell, set and graphic designer Arabella Wunderlich and sound designer Michelangelo Dousis, with creative support from Clare Noy from the Silver Lining.
Why do we need your support?
We are raising funds to make this show a reality; to fund our production costs including set, costume, video and animation. The money we raise will ensure we can fulfil our creative ambitions for this multi-media production.
Our show covers the serious topics of climate change and corporate greed, showing a version of Earth's future where things have gone past the point of saving. The story is told through the lense of comedy, optimism and shows how humans will always find connection, community and joy - even when they're in space!
Updates
We're very excited that Far Out will be staged as part of VAULT Festival 2023.
Research and development of the project began last year, with two days of R&D at the New Diorama Broadgate in December 2021, followed by a work-in-progress showing at the Omnibus Theatre Engine Room on February 21st 2022.
We're using our time leading up to the festival to raise the vital funds we need to create our set, video and sound design, including hiring an animator for this multi-media production- exciting!
We can't wait to bring it all to life. Your contributions are so appreciated.
