DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Our story jumps into the deep end of female friendships (terrible pun intended) and the complex web of history that entangles them. These girls are inseparable, bonded by over a decade of secrets, dependency, and loyalty. But when faced with a crisis that exposes the cracks in their friendship, will they band together or break apart?
I want people watching to reflect on how secure their own friendships truly are, especially childhood ones where their lives and values may no longer align. Some relationships grow hollow as people get stuck in familiar patterns, filled with jealousy and long-held grudges. Some are an unbreakable bond that surpass the need for commonalities, offering support and love without judgement or conditions.
But that can also be a dangerous thing.
This film explores extremities, highlighting the toxicities of both masculinity and femininity and will use visual juxtaposition to influence the audience into picking sides, making them question how they would react in the situation. Who thrives in the chaos? Who crumbles under pressure? Whose actions are justified? And above all, what would you really do for your friends?
WHO YOU'RE INVESTING IN
We are a group of five female actor-filmmakers from England, France, and the USA, training on the MA Acting for Screen course at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. ‘Favouritism’ is our dissertation film and the culmination of our last year of study.
The process of creating ‘Favouritism’ has been an invaluable opportunity to work with highly accomplished industry mentors throughout each stage of production. Whilst this 10-minute short film is a stand alone work, it will also act as a conceptual piece for a longer feature.
We can’t wait to share with you what we've been creating in bringing this explosive story to the screen. Thank you so much for your support!

Development | Spring 2025: Our story began in an initial workshop where we established the key themes we wanted to explore through this film. Production | July 2025: We are slated to shoot for three days on location in Winchester.
