I Didn't Save Before I Quit
Welcome to the FUN FAMILY RETRO ARCADE - where Fun is spelt with a capital F!
But not for everyone. HER, an arcade cleaner in her early twenties, works day in and day out, hiding behind her midnight blue haircut. She scrubs, she mops and constantly cleans just so the arcade’s testy customers can enjoy a temporary escape. But her mundane existence through selling this facade seems impossible to break out of. A failed university application, financial struggles and severe social anxiety; she is stuck like gum to the ground that no one cares to scrape off. And as if the arcade does not want to release her either, a broken claw machine inexplicably starts having a strange allure towards her, triggering a row of surrealist visions. Once these flimsy lines of reality begin to blur, she yearns to escape this place, and herself, once and for all...
With deliberately no name to echo her absent sense of self, we meet "HER" - an anxious loner, currently working at the FUN FAMILY RETRO ARCADE. She spends her days creating a spotless escape for every costumer, whilst she herself remains stagnant and invisible.
Though she yearns to start the next level and leave this monotonous place behind, everything prevents her from trying to escape. Even more so, when she forms a curious connection with "The Claw" inside a broken machine.
Though by the looks of it, rather ominous and eerie, the claw shares a similar status to our protagonist; one of a broken outcast in this neon-lit bubble of fun.
Simply yearning to belong, HER and the claw both want a way out…
