After awful luck with guys on her home island of Jersey, and a possessive ex-boyfriend, that won't leave her be, Maeve is determined to finesse her way out of economic stress, into financial independence; with a new man. The usual creature comforts should apply; a generous salary and a tolerable character. When Maeve and her best friend, Shea, are hit-on by an unpleasant pack of boys at the beach, they overhear wealthy Yummy-Mummy chatting on the phone to a cat-sitter about a spontaneous break at a local manor. As the girls study Yummy-Mummy 'Harriet's' rhetoric below her penthouse beach-view apartment, Maeve's solution reveals itself. The girls will arrive early at Harriet's apartment, pretending to be the 'cat sitters', in Harriet's absence, to create Maeve's dating profile photo shoot within an appropriate setting. Subsequent to convincing Shea that they won't get caught, they realise Harriet's beloved cat 'Demetrius' has disappeared, and the mischief begins...

‘Insufferably Bourgeois’ is a dry coming of age comedy set in Jersey (British Channel Islands). The themes explore class disparity, dating, the pain of growing up, through the female gaze. Our central team consists of three women. We care deeply about women in the film industry and aspire to rightful recognition. Our dream is that this project will be a stepping stone for a female safe space, opening up opportunities for women in Jersey and UK film.

The goal is to produce ‘Insufferably Bourgeois’, a feature length film, prefaced through a proof of concept short film. This crucial step will demonstrate our style, and provide investors with a clear concept of the story, tone, themes and style.

Crew: Baylee, Tsipporah and Lorna won’t be receiving compensation - just to make sure there is more room in the budget for essentials...we love this enough to do it for free! It is, however, very important to us that we have happy crew that are enjoying what they're doing and feel valued by us. Therefore having a budget that has compensation covered is a huge priority for us. 

Equipment Rental: Due to the fact we live on an island, and an equipment rental studio isn't available to us, we will have to rent equipment privately through independent filmmakers if needed. If necessary, another option is renting equipment from the UK. Camera, lighting and sound equipment is evidently a huge priority, as we won't be able to film without it.

Editing: As this is a proof of concept, we want to showcase our work as high quality as possible to prove what we can do. The style of the film will require professional editing, colouring and composition from artists that understands British comedic beats and that have artistic intuition in their style..

Catering: A happy tummy is a happy filmmaker...do they say that? Well we believe that and want to offer lovely meals to all those working on set!

Additional: Hard-drives needed to record footage, set decoration, wardrobe pieces that we don't already own.

In the scenario where we receive more funding than anticipated, this will be saved as extra backup for post production of our POC. If it’s not necessary to use the remaining money raised, we will conserve it for pre-production of our feature film.

We already have all actors/locations sorted. We are blessed to say these services have been offered to us for free, so that opens up some more of our budget for paying crew and costs in post production.
