The logo

In designing our logo, we drew inspiration from our birthplaces. The lower half echoes the petals of the Yorkshire rose, while the center is inspired by the bauhinia orchid flower from the Hong Kong flag. These elements were unified into a single form—infused with a human quality to reflect our storytelling ethos.

The Font

The font used in our logo is inspired by the storied heritage of York and the surrounding county—a place shaped by centuries of transformation, conflict, and cultural fusion. From its early Celtic tribal roots to the Roman occupation that laid the foundations of the iconic city walls, York has long stood as a symbol of resilience and reinvention.

Its history roared forward through the Viking era, when Jorvik rose as the capital of the Danelaw, and into the medieval period, when the city walls—as can be walked today—were completed to defend against Scottish invasions.

York has always been a crossroads of civilizations, a living record of evolving identity. That same legacy flows through every curve and line of our font, connecting past to present, and anchoring our brand in a place where history quite literally shapes the landscape.

The Stamp

In the same vain, we wanted to pay homage to the cultural melting pot of Hong Kong. Much like York, Hong Kong has been at the mercy of relentless evolution due to its advantageous positioning as a peninsula off mainland China. During the first Opium War in 1841, Hong Kong was seized by British rule and would remain so until 1997.

Under British rule Hong Kong was transformed from a small fishing village in to a major international port and financial hub flourishing as a gateway between East and West and became a place of refuge during regional conflicts.

Hong Kong has developed an incredibly unique, enchanting vibrancy that lures people in from all over the world. Among countless other things, Hong Kong is famous for its neon signs and that is what we wanted to capture in our final variation of the Hokoyo Productions brand.
