Knockdown Ginger
After his moped is stolen, a food delivery driver enlists the help of some unscrupulous acquaintances, only for them to turn a simple delivery into a home invasion. Now he must choose between what is right, and backing his 'mates'.
Project
Knockdown Ginger

Kiron is an impressionable young man who lives on the estate. Contrary to most in his demographic, his upbringing is very atypical. Coming from a loving two-parent home, he's been afforded the best opportunities. But with ease comes unrest and for some reason, he is drawn to the nefarious local gangsters, always trying to endear himself to them. Much to his ignorance, his presence is only tolerated.
When Kiron accepts a large delivery order with a lucrative tip attached, his excitement turns to panic when he finds his new moped has been stolen. He decides to turn for help from the gang, and after some negotiation they accept. The delivery takes the troupe to an isolated residence, to which the gang recognises the inhabitants, a very famous Influencer, who just so happens to be hanging with a bunch more in the house.
A quick check of their social media pages alerts the gang to a lucrative haul of personal effects and technology that they decide to steal. Kiron is, unfortunately, none the wiser and after thinking he's completed his job, he's now in the midst of a home invasion. Now Kiron is torn between assisting his 'friends' or the unfortunate victims, of which he's brought trouble to their doorstep.

A combination of factors brought on the inspiration for this film. As a Writer/Director, I like to imagine the worst scenarios possible in the most innocuous environments. Nowadays we take for granted the levels of the potential danger that inherently comes from a pursuit of convenience nor do we always think through the ramifications of our online activity.
So, after hearing a Vince Staples interview about how reclusive he is, coupled with the Kim K Paris robbery and other celebrity run-ins I created this short with two goals in mind; as a warning to others to be wary of the crowds they want to associate themselves with and also as a way of highlighting how vigilant we should be when posting things online, and what can happen when we invite total strangers into our lives.
Specifically for this film, I want to take viewers on a journey of emotions from delight to despair. As the story descends so too shall the mood, lighting and tone; though these factors will be present from the beginning, slowly overwhelm the other. An eclipse from light to dark. There will be a welcoming and gleeful depiction of both the lifestyles of streetlife and social media influencers whose dark sides slowly emerge over the course of the film.

We have a stellar cast of young, experienced actors ready to bring the Knock Down Ginger characters to life.
Here we’ll introduce a couple of our actors who’ve recently been cast:
Kiron - Mudiwa Jani
Young, Naive Impressionable. Not from the streets but wants to hang with the mandem on the estate. From a ‘perfect’ family, given the circumstances. Both parents, good grades kinda guy. Thinks because he’s from ends, he’s one of the gang. Knows better but still tries to associate himself with a life he can’t hack
Manny - Jayke Allen - Attended Sylvia Young Theatre, Cafe, Teenage Hero, Oliver Twist Theatre, Kingdom Drama School (2023)
His rough lifestyle hardens Manny. The appointed leader of a gang he doesn’t really want. Although Vic and Darrel are around he still feels slightly alone. Envious of the life Kiron is afforded.
Harriet - Tiffany Curtis - Attended Kingdom Drama School Graduate (2023) Attended Identity Drama School (2020) Cast in ‘Do I’ (2022)
Harriet knows how to get things done and understands how to wield her femininity to best suit her needs. Although she's part of the industry she is not easily impressed by the glitz and glam and owns any room she enters without having to say much.
Quinton - Jason Felix-Onyeje - Content creator, Film and Television Production Degree (2022), Freelance Photographer, Videographer
Quinton is a bubbly flamboyant character who is usually underestimated in social settings. Although dramatic, Quinton may be one of the bravest male figures in the film.
Vic - Marcus Walters-Pearce - Attended Kingdom Drama School Graduate (2023) Cast in 'Crazy Fun in Serbia' (2019) 'The Countdown' (2020) 'Kemi from the Block (2023)
Vic is desperate to be the head honcho but slyly bides his time playing second fiddle. Is a bit of a snake and all about himself. Despises Kiron and his attempts to be one of them. Feels that street life is his entire identity.
Leena - Bennette Ngoma - Attended Kingdom Drama School Graduate (2023) Cast in 'Freshers' (2022)
Little miss princess. Gets by on good looks and takes advantage of them. Her smile is her greatest weapon.

As a collective, we're really excited to demonstrate the skills and passion within us all, however, we need your help to get our foot on to the next level of our careers. Working and funding creative projects can prove to be very difficult especially when wanting to execute a particular vision and dream. With your help, we hope to produce another awarded short with the help of our ACP Production Team.
So where is your money going?
We currently have a goal to raise £10,000, a large percentage of our budget will go towards the location, equipment and paying our crew fairly. This will ensure that we have enough to fund our project during and post-production.
Here's a breakdown of our £10,000 budget:
