More than Half the Days
A short film to be shot in August 2026. More than Half the Days is about a Black British man with back pain. He loses his job, wife & independence, only to discover during therapy, that his pain is more than just physical.
It's a think piece asking audiences: Does therapy really help? And what made him wait so long before reaching out for help?

MISSION STATEMENT
First of all thank you so much for checking out the fundraiser. We are a diverse group of filmmakers and actors with varying degrees of experience in the film industry but what brings us together is our talent, work ethic and love for telling meaningful stories that highlight communities not always seen on screen.
STORY
More Than Half The Days follows Adam, a man completely trapped inside a decaying, cluttered flat. After losing his job and his wife, Chantelle, due to a severe and untreated back injury, his own stubborn pride, causes him to spiral into deep isolation. While he spends his days surviving on cheap meals and a growing reliance on painkillers, the real story unfolds over a breakthrough telephone therapy session. During this call Adam is forced to confront the painful truth. It’s a raw and intimate drama about pride, masculinity and the immense courage it takes to make the first call toward recovery.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Jennifer has a background in Nursing and during this time she cared for many patients who were suffering with their mental health. She wants to use the platform that films can give to highlight the struggles of those who require help, specifically males from cultural backgrounds where mental health is considered taboo.
With experience producing and being an assistant director on two previous short films; Echoes of Us and Pearls of Wisdom, she feels like it's her time to step up to the task of directing her own short film to submit to film festivals. The cast and crew will include talented people that she has worked with before, making this all the more special as she wants to give them the recognition they deserve.
THE PLAN
Pre-production has been in the works since January 2026. 4 Shoot days are scheduled to commence on the 1st of August.
The location has already been sourced, as shown above and most of the kit the crew have managed to source themselves. This movie will be filmed on the FX3 by the knowledgable DP, Joe Lo, and his camera team.
Most of the funding will be for wages and expenses however a 10% contingency has been added in case said kit and equipment no longer become available and we need to pursue renting services.

Updates
We have wrapped!!!!
Last Sunday we wrapped up the shoot!! It was a very long and tiring weekend but we pulled through, had fun and kept morale up. I am so proud of the team for the way they worked together and how we all looked after one another.
Rehearsal
Last Wednesday we had our first in person rehearsal. Safe to say that the cat was the took the lime light.
