    ABOUT US

Shopfloors Films has made two features – the sci-fi 2.0 Lucy (2022, available on these platforms) and 10 Swords & The Moon (coming 6th March 2026).  Both won awards and were immediately snapped up by a US sales agent.

Both films are indie, high genre but with strong human themes.  Newearth uses all the great thriller tropes while telling a compelling human story.

We spend time making the scripts as good as we can so that they attract great cast who love the challenge of bringing complex characters to life.

    THE STORY SO FAR

Newearth is our third feature which we're shooting right now.  We're scheduled to take it to the EFM (European Film Market) in Berlin 2026.

We've raised the budget for the shoot.  Now we need £10,000 for Post and a festival run.

As well as our features, we’ve made six short films, so have extensive experience in bringing indie projects in on time and to budget.

We have an incredibly experienced crew who love working together and supporting our work.

And, of course, an amazing cast.

Indie filmmaking is anarchic.  But we've made it to the shoot.  Now, we just need your help with the next stage.

    THE PLOT

Lana's desperate search for her abducted daughter leads her, undercover, to Newearth, a medical laboratory with a terrifying secret.

But when mother and daughter reunite, what should have been a moving, loving reunion is cold and unfeeling.

    ABOUT THE CAST

The cast is led by Alice Handoll, whose screen work includes Daddy’s Head (2024). She’s joined by Gwydion Rhys, familiar from The One That Got Away (2024), The Light in the Hall (2022), Casualty (2021), Hidden (2018) and Welsh dramas such as 35 Diwrnod and Hinterland. Making her first major dramatic appearance is young Freyan Flury as Katya. Samantha Seager, best known to TV audiences as Jodie Morton in Coronation Street and from Me Too!, Little Britain and Waterloo Road, also has significant stage credits including Shirley Valentine, Educating Rita and Abigail’s Party. Julia Florimo has appeared in Inferis (2024), The Modern Way (2022), Skins, and on stage in The Phantom of the Opera. Completing the line-up, Mark Hayden brings extensive theatre experience, with performances in The Mousetrap in the West End, King Lear and The Wizard of Oz on tour.

    ABOUT THE WRITER DIRECTOR

Ros Gihan Willliams  began her career in factual television at Channel.  She edited the feature Following Yago, directed by Adam Cooper and featuring Mark Little.

Her short film Leap won a Silver Remi Award for Drama at WorldFest Houston. Her feature film One Night, which she wrote, is currently in pre-production in Canada, produced by Jeanne Stromberg and Rhonda Baker.

She’s in development on a TV mini-series about one of the original managers of Arsenal Ladies’ Football Club.

    ABOUT THE PRODUCER

In addition to her work as a writer/director (2.0 Lucy and 10 Swords & The Moon), Fenella Greenfield works as a freelance trailer maker and editor.  Her company also produces corporate videos for a wide range of international clients.

She’s a founding member of Euroscript, a leading UK-based screenwriter’s training organisation. She lectures, runs workshops, and manages the organisation’s annual Screen Story Competition, helping to foster the next generation of talented screenwriters.

    DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

    Ros Gihan Williams

As a director I want to explore the themes of abandonment, guilt and forgiveness in Newearth.

LANA is a product of a future society where the last drops of humanity are being squeezed out of its citizens. Worked to the bone to heal and protect those in need, she neglected her own duties as a mother resulting in her child being abducted.

The audience will feel Lana’s struggle through the use of a predominantly handheld camera which will focus on her and her journey through daily denial and punishment of herself to acceptance and forgiveness.

In the UK 70,000 children are reported missing every single year. Fortunately 90% of these are found within 2 days but 2% remain missing for longer than a week.

    1% are never found.

I wanted to write NEWEARTH not only to explore the guilt and shame that parents of abducted children experience, but ultimately to portray how a mother will never stop searching for her missing child.

LANA puts herself through everything to find her daughter KATYA.
