PETER
“PETER” Follows a day in the life of 11 year old Peter, who’s troubled by his father’s absence. After his father doesn’t show up to pick him up after school yet again, he makes the decision to walk home by himself for the first time. On his way home, he sneaks in at a dvd rental store, where he meets Johnny, a 17 year old man working there. The two of them bond, and come to realise how common they are, but when the truth about the store comes to light, Johnny will have to make a decision that will change forever both of their lives.
Director’s Statement:
The film explores those brief encounters or small moments in our lives, that despite being short-lived, stay with us for a long time and shape our lives and our perspectives on the world and people. It’s an intimate story, that focuses on the connection between these two young men, who despite going through their own individual struggles, find a connection that will change them for the rest of their lives. Our goal is to tell a story that will resonate with people, whether they might be feeling a little lost, whether at any point in their lives found support through art or had unexpected meetings turn into lifetime friendships, that changed their lives forever. The film can act as a light of hope for everyone going through their own journey, that’s called life.
“Does it get easier?
The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let…things upset you.”
The Creative Vision:
The film will be told in a very intimate way, trying to capture the world through the point of view of the protagonist and what he’s going through. The film will be shot on 16mm film, to add the texture of nostalgia and give a sense of authenticity, and is inspired by films like Mommy (2014), Boyhood (2014), Moonlight (2016) Mid90s (2018) and Honey Boy (2019)
