Aspiring paper inspector, Peter lives a life of monochrome. His greyscale world allows him to quickly differentiate shades of white unlike his coworkers, but his world is turned upside down when Claire enters his life. As each day passes colours begin to appear around the office and all around Peter. He discovers the sky is blue, the grass is green and his pee is … Peter slowly realises that it is Claire- his office crush- causing the new and exciting saturation in his life, however he stumbles and stutters at every chance he has to speak with her. Whilst obtaining this new found wonder of colour, Peter’s work performance fails as he is no longer able to identify the varying shades of white, much to his boss’s dismay. His relationship to Claire hits rock bottom after she signs off an email with “Sincerely”, and colours fade back to greyscale. Peter is in despair and tries to leave the office only to notice “plain snow” paper. Peter rushes back to correctly identify his own paper- saving him his job and catching the attention of Claire. The next day, full of sprite, Peter heads to the office only to realise it’s Claire’s leaving day. He finally plucks up the courage to speak to her however she doesn’t realise that she had been emailing Peter- his world transcends back to monochrome. Peter realises that he had fabricated the relationship between them and heads back to his desk to continue his monotonous work.

Late 20’s, a bit of a romantic who lacks the courage to talk to his crush. Paper is everything to him- it’s uncomplicated and standardised. Love on the otherhand is difficult to grasp. He enjoys his routine yet the presence of Claire introduces colour into his world destroying the simplicity of monochrome and driving him away from excellence at his work classifying paper. He’s rather lonesome, only keeping in contact with his university friend Joanne due to their passion for paper. Peter is disconnected from his family, his solitude is out of his need for order. Without the ability to aid his father’s cancer, Peter retreats as the pain of inability troubles him.
Peter’s main flaw is his lack of timing, he’s too cautious that his overthinking results in missing opportunities/ not taking them. He struggles to follow what his heart desires as his world appears black and white.

Mid 20’s, the girl next door. She’s a sweet person, wanting the best out of her temporary situation as assistant. Despite being in the trade, Claire doesn’t hold paper at such appraisal as her co-workers. She sees the work opportunity as an experience necessary to build her cv for her future career, so she takes great care in delivering excellent rapport to her co-workers and boss. Her intentions with her temporary position at Peter’s office were primarily to explore another city and get her in the good books for the higher ups. Claire is not ignorant to Peter’s intentions as he never made them clear, she gives him the same friendly co-worker relationship as she does to all the office workers. Claire has had to learn a hundred new names, faces, emails and schedules being a temporary assistant without the time to delve into whether or not someone may have a crush on her based on minimal interaction.

Late 20’s, a business powersuit in play. Joane is crushing it, she’s under 30 and managing a branch of the most glorified Paper Inspection company in Europe. Her dream is of becoming the next CEO, something she has the confidence for but not enough experience. Joane admired Peter’s natural talent for paper classification that hiring him as part of the company could be seen as a form of nepotism however his outstanding performance rectified any concerns of the board. Joane wishes to make Peter her second in command, however she understands that his confidence is not up to the standard she needs for him to be once again accepted by the company. Joane is a good friend with good intentions although sometimes her actions aren’t in line with the best intentions for Peter.

The verse “Hamesha der der kar deta hu me” by the esteemed Urdu poet Munir Niazi profoundly impacted my life. It made me confront how much I had missed due to my tendency to delay or be unaware, prompting significant changes in my life. When Amy presented me with the script for Pigments of Imagination, Munir Niazi's poetry immediately resonated with me. I found myself deeply connected with the character’s journey, mirroring my own experiences of growth through timely action and awareness. As a filmmaker, my goal is to create meaningful films that inspire introspection. Pigments of Imagination aligns perfectly with this vision, offering a narrative that encourages reflection and transformation. I firmly believe that love transcends everything and brings true meaning to life. This belief inspired the film's visual treatment. Peter's monochrome world gains color only when Claire enters his life, symbolizing how love brings vibrancy and significance.
Pigments of Imagination embodies my core beliefs: the power of timely action and the transformative nature of love. Through this film, I aim to inspire audiences as profoundly as Munir Niazi’s poetry inspired me. I hope it encourages viewers to reflect on their own lives and embrace the power of love and timely action.

Hello! My name is Qura, I stepped into the role of producer for “Pigments of Imagination,” a project that truly resonated with me because of its Pixar-inspired romance elements—a genre I've always been a fan of. Collaborating with Hardik on this film has been an extraordinary experience. Seeing Amy's beautifully crafted words come to life on screen has been like living in a Pixar dream. This project has allowed me to witness the magic of filmmaking firsthand and has deepened my passion for the art form. I recall a significant moment in my life when I first moved away from home. It felt as if all the colors in my life had faded away. However, with time, I found that those colors gradually returned, more vivid and vibrant than ever before. This personal journey mirrors the themes of our film, making "Pigments of Imagination" a project that is very close to my heart.

Hey, I’m Amy Dave. I grew up in a small Somerset village with three sisters, and my passion for storytelling emerged early—I wrote my first script at the age of seven. Initially, I aspired to be an actress, but during my first acting job, I was captivated by the film crew, which sparked my interest in filmmaking. Through my studies, I developed a deeper understanding of film, exploring various filmmaking practices until I realized that writing was my true passion. Now, as an international award-winning producer turned writer, I translate my practical filmmaking knowledge into scriptwriting. Wanting to demonstrate the power of a crush through a visual medium, I drew inspiration from chroma key technology to develop the unique story and oddball character of Peter the paper inspector. My life gained new color with the birth of my niece. The deep need to protect, nurture, and care for her made life seem less complex and more wonderful than ever before.
