    A bit about the play

We’re in Stella’s head. Everything is shifting. Her mother is ill and seeing the future. Her sister is struggling to cope as a single mum. Stella’s old boyfriend is back. Then gone. Then back. Does she want him? Is her mother really sick? Why is everyone eating so many fish? As Stella grapples with the reality of her familial relationships and her romantic relationship, she is forced to unpick the roles that have been made to define her, and uncover both what is real and what is true.

Small Justice is a fractured exploration into three women’s lives, as they grapple with the truth. Written by Maddy Accalia and directed by Seán Butler. An on-book, work-in-progress, performance will take place on 24th March in Camden People's Theatre as part of their Sprint Festival.

    How Can you Help us?

We're raising funds to help with three main aspects of our production:

    • Paying our creatives This performance is a springboard to Small Justice having a life as full-scale, bells and whistles production. We're currently working on a DIY basis and have very little funding to work with but we firmly believe in paying people for their work. The majority of the money from this campaign will go to paying part of our creatives' fees.

    • Paying for Public Liability Insurance To stage any kind of theatre production with the public involved, you need insurance. For one performance, that will cost us between £50-70.

    • Paying for Rehearsal Space We're quite lucky in that we can avail of some free rehearsal space around London. However, with schedules and the number of rehearsals we need, this can sometimes be hard to come by so we need a reserve fund for when we do need to pay. This will cost between £7.50 - £12 per hour.

    A Bit About Us

Hello! We're LightMovingCompany, otherwise known as Maddy and Seán, and we're the main creatives behind Small Justice. Alongside, our wonderful collaborators (listed below!), we'll be taking Small Justice to Sprint Festival at the end of March 2023. We have made work separately as individual makers; as members of other companies; and have consulted as dramaturgs on new work development for playwrights, productions, and other artistic organisations. We’ve made theatre of varying scales at The Roundhouse, EdFringe, Vault Festival, Scene and Heard Festival Dublin, The Space Theatre, and Dublin Fringe Festival among others. We've been working on this show for two years and we feel like it's finally ready to go out into the world. A lot of other people feel like that too and Maddy's brilliant play recently made it to the final shortlist for the BOLD Playwright's award.

We're at an early phase of the show's development as a production which is why we're very honoured to have been given this opportunity by CPT to stage a work-in-progress performance.

However, even scaled down work-in-progress performances like this aren't cheap and we need all the help we can get and that's why we need you!

We're very aware that times are tough, so anything you can donate is greatly appreciated. If you can't afford to donate, shout about our show on your socials or invite your friends and family to the performance on the 24th!
