Project
Support Threedumb Theatre's One Man Poe
We are raising funds for two new projects, furthering the development of our adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe's works:
- One Man Poe: The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar and The Business Man (Theatre)
- The Black Cat (Short Film)
Help us bring these stories to life.
One Man Poe was first created in 2021 as a quadruple-bill of Edgar Allan Poe stories, featuring:
The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Black Cat and The Raven
Over the last five years, the production has gone from stregth-to-strength, touring the UK several times, appearing in various festivals and visiting several schools. The show has also toured internationally, visiting Dubai, Malaysia and USA, along with a planned visit to Italy in 2026.
A demonstration of it's success could not be better illustrated than looking at it's success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - the world's largest arts festival, were it was presented in both 2024 and 2025. For it's first year, One Man Poe completely sold out each of its 21 shows, and was also awarded the Spookies Award for Best Horror Solo Show. Building on this momentum, the show upscaled to a bigger venue for the 2025 festival, where it not only sold over 1150 tickets (94% of its total capacity), but was also awarded The Derek Award for Best Overall Show of the Edinburgh Fringe, surpassing over 3'200 other shows that were also judged for this award.
And so, further building on this monumental success, we are bringing the show back to Edinburgh Fringe 2026, but with the addition of TWO NEW Poe stories:
- The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar - a short story about a mesmerist who puts a man in a suspended hypnotic state at the moment of death.
- The Business Man - a short story that satires capitalism, about 'self-made man', boasting of his accomplishments.
These two new stories will require a bigger team to achieve: we need the help of at least 2x people to help with moving large set pieces about, in between the stories. We also need funds to purchase and/or build the set pieces, and to acquire the new props, costume and make up.
