Threads
Threads is a contemporary story about cultural pressure, disconnection and the nuances of mixed-race identity. It follows Aiden, a young English-Pakistani man, who must fake his way through a family gathering.
With moments before their arrival, Aiden discovers that his mother, Rukhsana, has told her family for years that he has grown up fully embracing their language, culture and heritage. Today, with everyone gathered under one roof, he has no choice but to keep up the lie. But as the day unfolds, cracks in the facade begin to appear, creating an even bigger rift between Aiden and his mother.
It all comes to a head when the kitchen goes up in smoke and the lies are exposed, leading to Aiden and his mother having their first honest conversation for the first time in his life.
We’re thrilled that the screenplay for Threads has already garnered industry recognition:

The true complexity of being mixed-race is a story which is rarely told.
Screen often depicts this experience as a harmonious and easy-to-navigate journey, but we’ve decided to resist easy answers and choose realism over resolution.
This story was driven by a personal yearning to delve into the less-explored aspect of being stuck between two worlds. It questions, when family demands we embrace our roots, what happens when we don't fit in?
We’re a deeply passionate team with a love for nuanced, emotionally rich and original indie storytelling.
We’re not here to spoon-feed our audiences - we believe in creating stories that spark conversations with different opinions and that remind us of our beating hearts. Life can be joyous, arduous, layered and complex, and we believe that Art can help us make sense of the world a little better.
We are REALLY close to getting this brilliant project into production; all we need is the final push. In order to get to the next stage (shooting the film!) we need to raise the remaining £5000.
This will go towards essential production costs and help create a stunning film that does justice to our story. Every contribution helps us get one step closer to achieving this.
