We follow Don, a Bison Ranger in the UK who sets on a quest to find out why bison flourish in Poland.  Armed with these insights, he returns to the UK to apply what he’s learned, furthering his work to restore nature and create thriving wilderness here at home.

This is the film to spread a message of hope and encourage generations young and old to reconnect with nature.

Shoot Structure:

Shoot 1: Białowieża Primeval Forest, Poland - to explore the beautiful flora found in the summer and link these species the ecological role that bison play

Shoot 2: Białowieża Primeval Forest, Poland - to show the extreme environments these resilient giants have to persevere through and the ecological role they still play in the colder seasons.

Shoot 3: Wildwood Trust - Working closely with the wonderful Donovan Wright and Mark Habben, Director of Zoological Operations of Wildwood Trust, we will take a leap into the story that the Wilder Blean Project has to tell. Along with partners Kent Wildlife Trust, Wildwood Trust aim to show how European bison can provide a sustainable solution to woodland management in south east England.

We are now seeking your help in raising funds to complete the film. As a truly independent documentary, we have had no conventional support – which has allowed us to keep a truly independent voice. In particular, we are seeking funds to:

· Commence filming in the Białowieża Forest, Poland and Wildwood Trust, Kent.

· Support post-production – editing, sound design and mixing, score composing and preparing the film for distribution

· Ensure that we have the rights and clearances to use archive footage if needed.

The resurgence of European bison has not so far been covered in a short-documentary until now! BISON RESURGENCE commences filming on 17th September 2024.

Please note that any money raised through Green Lit will not be distributed to Wildwood Trust or Kent Wildlife Trust. All funds are dedicated solely to the filming of this project.
