Hello and thank you for visiting our campaign page! 'Lingers in Silence' is a character study of Anne, an elderly housewife whose routine life spirals into chaos after she discovers that her husband has passed away.
I knew that my next project would explore working-class British nuclear families like my own. Besides powerhouse films such as Nil by Mouth and Bait, there are scarce examples of on screen working-class British families that aren't caricatures or stereotypes.
Family is always something that I will eternally romanticise. The eccentricities, the history, the friendship and the feuds. A network of love, hate and pain beating through the hearts of the quirky characters who live and breathe it. At the centre of all families though is code: the gestures that are acceptable and the reactions that aren't. The cultural identity that each member abides to. What more do I have to tell than my own thumbprint, the history of people that I know and love, and the stories inherited to me?
Though fictional, the people in my film are true to those I know and love best. Both a homage and a critique of my cultural heritage.
Story
Lunchtime, Christmas day. Anne, an elderly housewife, is continually ignored and disregarded by her controlling husband Dennis, and middle-aged daughter Dawn; left to cook, manage and clean up after the family's festivities. However when her daughter leaves and evening passes, Anne resorts to her usual weekly routine: drugging Dennis' tea with sleeping tablets to engage in her secret- an online relationship with a young camboy. Her lust for connection is soon interrupted, however, when her husband fails to wake up, and Dawn arrives again out of the blue.

We are a small production with a lot of heart. As such, each and every crew and cast member is spending hours of time and effort without pay. Our budget goes to making our dreams come alive:
- Transporting equipment and props

- Production design dressing
- Catering for our cast and crew
