My Plan For Tomorrow
In a "fresh and exciting" take on immersive theatre, My Plan For Tomorrow questions what it means to be successful in an increasingly alienated world. A hilarious, disturbing and surreal experience that gained traction in 2023 and now seeks to raise funds for a longer run. Intimate and experimental, the show observes four characters and the audience meeting in progressively strange circumstances.

spare the rod is a theatre company, formed by George Abbott and Alfie Lanham-Brown in 2018. We create intimate, audience-driven experiences that challenge theatrical conventions and make poignant jabs at modern day society.
We want to offer something different to theatre commonly produced in the UK and our work reflects a shared dissatisfaction with the current cultural climate. We are interested in creating experiences that are ambiguous and ephemeral, rather than telling people what to think.
My Plan For Tomorrow is our latest project. We have been working on it for a few years, focusing on creating a mature and keenly honed piece, which reflects a number of deep and personal issues that affect us.
Hilarious, disturbing and at times uncompromisingly surreal, My Plan For Tomorrow questions what it means to be successful in an increasingly alienated society. Casting the audience as silent voyeurs, the play follows four characters as they wrestle with creating meaning for themselves in the world.
An initial, sold-out run was staged at The Pen Theatre last year. Audience members praised the unique structure of the performance, the strong cast and thought-provoking writing.
Since then, we have been developing the piece. Having tested it out on audiences, we came away with new ideas and, eventually, a new play.
We are now staging this next version of the show at FUSE Festival and the Golden Goose Theatre in July.
We are incredibly excited at the prospect of presenting the developed piece to a larger audience.
But we need your help to do it.
As a fringe theatre company, we rely on donations in order to produce our work. It is only with your help that we will be able to front the essential costs of:
- Rehearsal space hire
- Marketing materials
- Set and costume
By producing this next run of the show, we hope to gain wider exposure as a company which will enable us to take our work down new avenues we are very keen on exploring.
If you are interested in intimate, experimental theatre-making and crave something different on our stages, we invite you to take interest in our work.
We are extremely grateful for any donations, no matter how small.
My Plan For Tomorrow is written by George Abbott and produced by Enrose Productions.

Success means many different things. Accomplishment in some artistic sense, or maybe just lauding it over your contemporaries. Failure could be anything at all.
