    Short Synopsis:

We meet trans man Jamie and his celebrity one-night stand Vince the morning (well, afternoon - they overslept) after the night before. They're affectionate, happy. But they honeymoon period is especially short here with Vince asking Jamie to leave the hotel room out the back door. Not because he's a man, no. Because he's trans. And TERFs can destroy Vince's career. Stunned at Vince's lack of self-awareness, Jamie agrees. Vince scrawls his number on his own headshot and gives it to Jamie, thinking they'll make up later. However, Jamie has other intentions for that phone number...

    Funding Purpose:

We need funding to get the film on the festival circuit, which many filmmakers will know costs a lot of money. With an average of around £40 per submission, we’re struggling to self-fund the submissions process. We’re looking to get Pillow Chocolate in front of a range of audiences, trans, cis, queer, straight… we want to spread the message that trans people deserve to take control of their own narratives. With the money raised, we would be able to submit to a range of international film festivals in order to get Pillow Chocolate the audience it deserves.

    Mission:

This film intended to unmask the more insidious side to transphobia, interrogating how an openly gay man of status can both be sexually attracted to a transman, while also shrouding him in shame. Ultimately, it is an irreverent look at a Jamie reclaiming his worth and sexual identity.

The film was produced democratically both for and by trans men: Charlie, our wonderful writer/director, Pete our lead and Jack our editor. We also shot it in a gay space, The Glory in London.

We are now looking to tap into queer organisations to give this film the afterlife it deserves and to be championed by those who know how much it matters. We have very sadly not been selected for the queer festivals we have applied to, so are having to look to general paid festivals and hope these will provide a wider audience.
