Swan Song
“THE LOVING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AN ARTIST AND HER MUSE IS DISRUPTED WHEN A MALE ART CRITIC IS ASSIGNED TO WRITE ABOUT THEIR RESPECTIVE WORK.”
We are a UAL selected short film about the masculine dominance of the art world, heteronormativity and fighting for your art. We have a passionate, dedicated and talented crew behind the script- and we can't wait for you all to see it!

Swan Song
Hi I’m Em! The writer and producer of Swansong.
I always lean into darker, more feminine stories, and this script is no different- I’m always attracted to complex, morally grey characters and protagonists that don’t always win the battle. As a producer, I love the pressure and intensity of trying to make a film, and I always throw myself into everything I do. I’m really proud of the Swansong script, and I’m so grateful for YOUR help in bringing it to life.
WRITERS INTENT:
This script is partly inspired by the stories of the Greek Muses, alongside the many women of the 20th century that were abused and exploited by male artists in the name of creativity. We aim to reimagine what muse-dom could mean, and depict what happens when the old guard of patriarchal, hegemoneous artists interfere with progress and innovation.
We want to represent genuine tenderness between two queer women, and the strength of lesbian relationships in the face of heteronormativity.
Set in the timeless, art deco world of Soho and the upper echelons of the art world- the script has style. If you love films like Mulholland drive, Vagabond and Black Swan- this project is for you.
